CODA
I do not have the energy to play "happy, little, cozy, friendly" blog anymore.
This is my last post.
I'm done.
The End

The darling [four or five] of you who read are still beautiful and clever and impeccably marvelous in every way, but to codified introspection itself, public and private, I've had my fill

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I've "had my fill" enough that I'm even plagerizing my farewell post!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I'm tired of words.
I'm tired.
I'm so fucking bored with my mind and with sterile, cold thought and distance and walls and shutting myself off from the world and harboring my own private little tragedy. Life is too short to bask and revel in my own private little tragedies and to build up walls and wait for people to tear them down, resorting in the meantime to marring the clean whiteness of a page or pecking at a keyboard and pretending that it is significant in any way. I don't have time for this.

I need to be near the people I care about and to hug and to punch and to make love and to let people see me cry. Words are such bullshit inadequate crutches

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

That is so uncomfortably true.
It's time for Less words about life and more life.
Less thinking and more doing
More random e mails to my friends, and less mass broadcasting of my opinions to a world wide web of strangers. (Except for the "Rasberry Muffin" strangers!)

Thank you for being " beautiful and clever and impeccably marvelous" people!!
I am done.
The next adventure awaits!

Mother dear was correct - I DO feel better. (I can breathe! I can swallow! I'm not overly tired!!!) It's just easier to recognize that I feel better when people aren't calling me "Atila" or "Oscar".

P.S. Management still sucks!
P.P.S. I'm still stuck stuck stuck on my paper

UPDATE: The paper is well on it's way to done (yipee!)
but management is the worlds worst class. (It's the antithesis of all that is right and good and noble and FUN!)

It's amazing how much fun laundry and dishes can be when I'm having a difficult time with a paper.
Stuck stuck stuck stuck stuck!

The Rock, Paper, Scissors WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP!!
(I'm really good at Rock Paper Scissors!!!)
Up until now my biggest dream invovled a Masters Degree - - but now . . . . Now I have a true ambition!!!

Wimpathy
After all these years, I have finally come up with the definition of a liberal wimp. It's someone who feels sorry for Rush Limbaugh. [more]

Management SUCKS!
I hate this class
I hate this class
I hate this class

"This class" is a general management course -which means less than half the class is Arts Admin. students. (The rest are CEO-wanna-bes!) The only good thing about this awful horrible rotten useless good-for-nothing class is that it dispells any doubt I might have about my career path.

I am absolutely in the right program!! (That is the Arts Adin. program as opposed to General Management -- yuck!!!)

Last night the proff TOTALLY went off on servant leadership as "Bad Management" - Now, the only type of leadership model I like is "Servant Leadership" -ggggrrrrrrr - I don't even like the term "Management." I don't want to BE a manager - - I want to be a leader, a director, an assistant, or a corrodinator, ANYTHING BUT A MANAGER!! WHY are they making me take this course?????

I hate this class
I hate this class
I hate this class

I had some time today between my morning job and afternoon job - so I wandered over to a mega music store. They had moved most of their Strings Things to a different store - meaning I had very little to look at - so I played on ALL their pianos for an hour - - it was nice (they let me play all the new Christmas Sheet Music!) The only places you can play christmas music in October (without people looking at you funny) are schools and music stores. I kinda miss that.

Still a little sick
Still VERY tired

Sick and Tired - - that about sums it up

(In a febile attempt to maintain a positive attitude - - I will say the cold IS going away - - just too slowly for my liking. Wash your hands, sleep lots, pump up the vitimin C folks - you DO NOT want to catch this sucker!!)

I just got an e mail from my boss . . . I'm sure no one cares, but it makes me happy!

Julie,
Just wanted to say thank you for the fabulous work you did on the website text revisions. It was a huge job and you did it in record time. Thank you so much for your help with this, and every other project I throw into your lap. We are lucky to have you on staff.

Thanks again,

The new and improved YA website will be released to the public very soon!! (Be excited !!)

Cart Before the Horse?
Still working on the cover letter for that job, BUT I have a complete draft of my resignation letter to the Little Academy already written!! (bad sign - - must chill out).

UPDATE The letter and resume is typed and ready to go out in tomorrow's mail. I am REALLY not naive enough to expect that I'll actually land this job - which is why the details are rather scant. (But if it works out like I want it to -- you'll be overwhelmed with details! I promise!!)

Recovering from a yuck cold
I stupid-ly took cold medicine - which didn't react well with other drugs in my system. YUCK YUCK YUCK

My grandmother is in town this weekend (The only thing worse than not seeing her - - - would be her getting sick because of me!)

UPDATEBecause I'm no longer contageous - I had dinner with Gram today (Sunday) (-: Actually, she ate dinner - I watched her, drank juice, nibbled on some green beans from her garden, and laughed at my one year old nephew!

It might take a couple weeks for my system to sort itself out from the Dimatapp mishap ~ feeling very stupid ~ but for now I'm chalking it up to "experiencial learning."

The First Viennese Vegetable Orchestra has left the crisper for a European tour. "The orchestra's instruments consist entirely of fresh vegetables, minimally abetted by some kitchen gadgets and a power drill. Before a show, the nine orchestra members go produce shopping and spend about four hours honing their particular devices. Carrots play a major role: some are hollowed out and made into flutes capable of mean trills; others are lined up like a xylophone; a few get grated. Gourds are slapped, peas and celery snapped, leeks used as drumsticks on pumpkins. Perhaps the prettiest instrument, the gurkophon is made from a cucumber with a carrot mouthpiece and a red pepper bell [so much more]

An interesting job opportunity has presented itself . . .
It literally came out of nowhere.
It's not "exactly" one of my life priorities - BUT it is gosh darn close.
And I'm not "exactly" qualified - But I'm gosh darn close.

Is it ethical for a teacher to resign during the school year?
Is it ethical for a school to only offer "at will employment" ?
Does that make it OK for me to leave my students?
Should I even bother to apply?
What if they offer it to me, and I decline due to sappy feelings of loyality to my kidos?

"They" say the best time to look for a job is before you need one . . . so I'm going to apply and see what happens. If I am lucky enough to land this job. (Right or Wrong) I think I'd quit the general music gig and take this position. (It includes a hefty pay raise, a "director" title, a shorter commute, medical insurance, and association with a quality organization). Stay Tuned Boys and Girls, life could get interesting very soon!

I was at Walgreens today.
Usually I avoid the candy asile - but today I didn't
And there was . . . . A WONKA BAR!!!
I didn't know they actually made WONKA Bars!!! (I thought they were just made up for the story!!!)

The label said "Chocolate and Graham Crackers"
One of my favorite things in the whole wide world is chocolate and graham crackers. (I love graham cracker sandwhiches - - which is basically half a hersey bar between two halves of a graham cracker!!) (And for a really tastey super sweet breakfast - - try Golden Grahams, Bannanas, Milk, and Chocolate Syurp!!)

SO - I shelled out $1.20 of my hard earned money
(It's worth it for a WONKA bar - right??)

I left Walgreens humming The I've got a golden ticket Song(from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).
I was quite happy to be the proud owner of a WONKA Bar

Do I need to finish the story? Or have you already figured out how disappointing the WONKA bar experience was ? ? ?
Second rate chocolate - with teeny tiny pieces of graham crackers (almost crumbs)

Not worth $1.20.
Not even worth half that.
Too Bad - So Sad.

The moral of the story - don't buy a WONKA bar. Get something else (M&M's are always good - I like Almond best!!)
THE END.

I LOVE MY CAR. BUT mother dear loaned me her car today. (Mine is in the shop geting a big tune up).

I LOVE MY CAR! BUT mother dear's vehicle is about 20 steps up from my basic (poor) student-mobile.

I LOVE MY CAR! But it was kinda nice to drive mother dear's car. It has power steering, and power windows. (It almost drives itself!) There is NO road noise, and has at least FOUR speakers (plus a CD player!) The turn signal is SO SOFT I didn't even know I had turned it on!!
Talk about Amazing and Incredible Automotive technology!!!

There were two old women at the Dakkota Valley Symphony concert today in bright red hats wearing purple outfits.
It made me smile!
I'd heard of people acting out the poem, but I'd never actually seen it!!!
My marvelous stand partner hasn't heard the "When I am Old I shall wear Purple" poem - -
So . . . . for her, (and anyone else who needs a mid-night treat) Click Here
Enjoy!

On a sadder note - today was my last day playing with the symphony for a while (sniff sniff). I'll be having Thursday night classes at least until Christmas )-:

But I'll close with a happy thought - MY MEGA RESEARCH PAPER (due tomorrow) is DONE DONE DONE DONE!!!
Yipee!!!!!

I met with Dr.Hand Surgeon today
He says the stiffness in my thumb is normal - - it'll take another 3-6 months for the scar tissue to soften and then it'll be less sore.
BUT . . . the tendons and nerve and everything are healing exactly like it is supposed to. (-:
That is all

except I had to take
an afternoon off from
the Little Academy for my
appointment - - it was
a beautiful day to not
go to work!!)
The End.

Dear Governor Tim P. -
I'm a super teacher working in a high poverty school, please sign me up for your $100,000 teaching plan.

Love, JulieVW

I have A LOT of questions, and thoughts regarding the man's silly proposal . . . .

* Do you think a fabulous super teacher will be able to do their super teacher job in a classroom with 30 kids?

* Does "super teacher" have a way to ensure kids have a table or desk at home where they can do their homework?

* Will super teacher also teach each parent how to read so they can help their kids with homework (just like the suburban parents)?

* Can super teacher give each kid a permanant home address so they can get a library card (just like the suburban kids)?

* Will super teacher get special "super resources" for her classroom - (Or will she have to make do with a $100 steipdend like the "non-super-teachers"?)

I think the proposal is a silly little sound bite for a silly little news conference. I think Governor Tim has not talked to ANYONE who works in a high poverty school, nor has he thought about it at all. I think this will last about a week - and then he'll forget all about it.

I took Phil to see BLAST tonight!
Here's the OFFICIAL JULIEVW REVIEW . . . .

* The good parts were fabulous (Bolero, Appliciaian Spring, the Furgeson piece, Battery Battle, and a few others I can't rember right now).
* I could have done with significantly less synthesized music.
* The folks in the cast are VERY musical. When they were being musical, or swinging flags, doing cartwheels it was great! When they relied on techno tricks with the lights, or props, or silly things - -- it just lost something.
* The family sitting next to me was beyond rude.
Overall = good. The performers looked like they were having fun (it is always more enjoyable when they are enjoying themselves - - sounds crazy but it's true!!!)
